1walNew minister conducts familiarisation visit at Senpa

The newly appointed Minister for Employment, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation Wallace Cosgrow and other ministry officials yesterday toured the Small Enterprise Promotion Agency (Senpa) to familiarise themselves with the agency.

Senpa is the first point of contact for all matters relating to small enterprise in Seychelles. The vision of the agency is to ensure that small enterprises in Seychelles become the primary contributors towards the growth of the country’s economy as a whole, by producing and offering quality products and services that are fully competitive both locally and internationally.

2walAccompanying the minister was the principal secretary for entrepreneurship development & business innovation Pamela Charlette, the chief executive (CEO) of Senpa Penny Belmont, among other high officials.

The familiarisation visit enabled the recently appointed minster and his delegation to see first hand the importance of Senpa and find out what needs to be done so that small local entrepreneurs can benefit more from such service.

“The visit gave me an opportunity to familiarise myself with what Senpa is doing as well as interact with the staff. It is part of a series of visit that I will be undertaking to all entities that fall under my 3walministry,” he said.

He added that during the visit he was able to identify some issues regarding small businesses.

“Issues related to small businesses that were brought up during my visit included registration of license, criteria that each organisation that works with Senpa uses. These are issues that we must work to resolve. In general Senpa is an organisation that does a lot to develop small local businesses in Seychelles, but there is still space for us to further that knowledge and enhance this sector. We need to promote small enterprises and development of crafts and cottage industries,” he said.

During the visit the minister also took time to interact with staff as shown in our selection of photos.
