Winners of the fourth Airtel Music Award (AMA) which took place recently have been rewarded.
They received their prizes during a small ceremony which took place at the Airtel headquarters, Providence on Wednesday afternoon.
The fourth AMA was a big accomplishment for Airtel Seychelles, which strives to meet the artist’s needs, and continuously delivering a good show for the local artists to showcase their talent and be rewarded for achieving success throughout the year.
The show last month was very well prepared; all the artists delivered a great show, which demonstrates that they have talent, and deserve to be rewarded.
Guests at the prize-giving ceremony included the managing director of Airtel Seychelles Amadou Dina, the chief executive of the National Arts Council (Nac) Jimmy Savy, the chief executive of the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) Alvin Laurence, among other guests and sponsors.
Mr Dina stated that Airtel Seychelles always tries to support local artists and help them showcase their talents.
“Airtel Seychelles tries to support the hard work and devotion that local artists put in their work. Next year we will be celebrating the fifth AMA, and the show will be much bigger than this year,” he said.
Best female artist, Tania Jeremie, received a trophy sponsored by Airtel, one Samsung Galaxy J2 Dual Sim 4G, one 4G prepaid U SIM cards, 18GB worth of data over 12 months, a voucher by H-Resort, cash prize of R5000 sponsored by Katiolo discotheque, hamper by Takamaka Bay, hamper by Moonshine and a Swarovski bracelet sponsored by Diamond Works.
Tania, who will soon be leaving to further her studies, pointed out that she has worked really hard to be a successful singer.
“It is a big achievement for me to have been rewarded as the best female artist at the AMA. I thank all my devoted fans. I am working hard so that I can leave an album for them. Soon I will be leaving the country, but that does not mean that I will stop creating some wonderful lyrics,” she said.
Best male artist Phillip Toussaint also won the award for best song of the year with ‘Pa Pou Anpandan’, as well as the People’s Choice award.
For People’s Choice award Mr Toussaint won a trophy sponsored by Airtel Seychelles, one Samsung Galaxy J2 Dual Sim 4G, one 4G prepaid U SIM cards, 18GB worth of data over 12 months, voucher by Creole Travel Services, hamper by Takamaka Bay, hamper by Moonshine and cash prize of R2000 sponsored by MAS.
For song of the year he won a trophy sponsored by Airtel Seychelles, one Samsung Galaxy J2 Dual Sim 4G, one 4G prepaid U SIM cards, 18GB worth of data over 12 months, hamper by Takamaka Bay, hamper by Moonshine and cash prize of R2000 sponsored by MAS.
As best male artist, he won a trophy sponsored by Airtel Seychelles, one Samsung Galaxy J2 Dual Sim 4G, one 4G prepaid U SIM cards, 18GB worth of data over 12 months, cash prize of R5000 sponsored by Katiolo discotheque, hamper by Takamaka Bay, hamper by Moonshine.
“These three awards give me more willpower; they also show that there are people who really want local artists to move forward. This year I plan to do more concerts for all my fans,” said Mr Toussaint.
Other prizes were given to Angie for best new artist; best collaboration went to Ambitious & DMC Taj with the song ‘Lanmour Voras’, the award for best traditional song went to Joseph Sinon with the song entitled ‘Msye Marcel’ and the honorary award which went to veteran Jeanne Legge
For this year Airtel Seychelles has given out prizes worth over R50,000 for all the categories.
