DSC_7690Avani Barbarons Resort & Spa officially launched its Kreol Cabaret 2017 on Thursday evening at the resort at Barbarons, Mahé in a press conference.

As explained by the resort’s general manager Stephane Vilar, it is a very new concept involving three well known local artists – Sandra Esparon, Jean-Marc Volcy and Patrick Victor.

The three artists will be performing separately every last Friday of every month.

The idea behind the cabaret is to create a place where both tourists and locals can come watch and even dance to local music and local songs. The hotel will still be holding its quite popular Artisans Bazaar, an event which has been going on for some months now.

“After the success of last year’s Kreol Cabaret which was launched with Joseph Sinon, we have decided to launch a the concept again this year and we are very proud to have the three very famous Seychellois artists you are all familiar with. We will start in January with Sandra. So this is the official launch of the 2017 Cabaret,” said Mr Vilar.

He said this is a paying event which is sure to attract lots of locals and tourists alike as there is a lack of such events in the country. The cabaret will also be a means to let the Seychellois people know the hotel is also open to them.

As for the artists, who were also present at the press conference, they commended the initiative by Avani which they described as an opportunity to showcase our local culture to both locals and tourists; have somewhere where people who enjoy such cultural performances can come and also a chance to give them as artists much needed exposure.

“It is a good initiative to promote our dances and culture to tourists while also being appreciated by our own Seychellois,” Sandra said.

“I thank Avani for taking this initiative in this area. It is important for tourists to know where there are cultural activities. It is also an occasion to promote myself as an artist and also Kreol music which works well together,” said Jean-Marc.

“I am also very appreciative to Avani for making such an event happen. I surely appreciate this opportunity the hotel has given us to promote ourselves as local artists,” Patrick said.
