Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture, Minister Idith Alexander has visited different entities from the Department of Culture, which is now part of the Minister’s portfolio. She was accompanied on her visit by the Principal Secretary for Culture, Ms. Benjamine Rose, the Advisor for Culture Mr. Emmanuel Doffay, and other Senior Officials from the ministry.
The first stop was the National Art Council (NAC), where the ministerial delegation was met by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jimmy Savy and his team. Minister Alexander visited the various sections, where she was able to communicate with the staff, clarify their concerns and exchange ideas about the way forward. “We give you our commitment that we will work together to move our Ministry forward”, the Minister confirmed to the staff.
The next stop was to the newly renovated top floor of the SPUP/SPPF Museum the current location housing the Seychelles Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Miera Savy, the Chief executive Officer welcomed the Minister and her team. They were then taken on a tour of the premises, where they could see the renovation work that had taken place, the Minister also had the opportunity to meet the staff and obtain a better understanding of their work. The Minister was once again able to engage with the staff and she reassured them that she will look further into the issues that they had raised with her during the visit.
Minister Idith Alexander and her delegation then headed to the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS), where she met the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer for Creative Industry and National Event Agency (CINEA), Mr. Galen Bresson and the deputy CEO Mr. Gustave De Commarmond. The Minister and her delegation toured ICCS and Mr. Bresson took this opportunity to express certain difficulties that he was encountering, and they also discussed upcoming CINEA projects. The Minister gave them her commitment to enable CINEA to deliver on projects.
During all the visits, the Minister reiterated that she wants all the departments under her Ministry to keep excelling and deliver more. The Minister insisted that all the departments need to work together if they want to achieve success, she affirmed that “Team work is important if we want to overcome all the challenges of the different departments and find solutions together to alleviate all of the barriers”.
Minister Alexander and her team are scheduling more visits in different entities under her Ministry in the coming days.
