There are many great entertainers, but there are a select few who can ignite a massive crowd even before they begin to entertain. There are DJs who meet expectations, and DJs who shatter them. There are entertainers who raise the bar, and entertainers who break the bar.
Daniel Vadivello, aka DJ EZY D, is one of those DJs and entertainers who can light up a packed stadium.
Recently DJ EZY D represented Seychelles at the Reggae Beachfest in Dubai.
Reggae Beachfest is a Reggae & Dancehall festival celebrating Jamaican and Caribbean culture through music, food and drinks. Held monthly in Dubai on either the first or last Saturday, it brings likeminded people together to network and have a good time.
This year at the festival alongside DJ EZY D were many other international artists such as Brick & Lace, among others.
Throughout DJ EZY D’s career, he has successfully taken part in 14 concerts in different countries around the world.
We took this opportunity to ask DJ EZY D about his trip to Dubai…
Seychelles NATION (SN): How did you get invited to the Reggae Beachfest in Dubai?
DJ EZY D: I was invited by Middle East promoters after a few Dubai residents who were on holiday in Seychelles heard me on radio and came to see me play at the Tequila Boom nightclub. So they have been hearing my name a couple of times and been following me on Facebook. After that they contacted me on Facebook and invited me to feature in their road black festival.
SN: What was the purpose of such trip?
DJ EZY D: I was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai last week. I was invited to play in the biggest Reggae Beach Festival, the biggest Caribbean party in the Middle East. Jamaican superstar Nyanda from Brick & Lace and I were the only international artists invited. I represented Seychelles and delivered an amazing show. The organisers really enjoyed what I was able to deliver in terms of music.
SN: Are you the first Seychellois to grace the Reggae Beach Festival?
DJ EZY D: I am the first Seychelles DJ to be invited to play in such festival in the Middle East. I represented my country and was able to make people aware that Seychelles has got massive talent.
SN: What next after this event, what have you in mind for the future?
DJ EZY D: They really liked my performance that they invited me to come back in December for another massive concert. I want to use this platform to open doors for other artists so that our music can be broadcast in Dubai. I am also trying to establish a link between Paradise FM and Dubai, so that our music can be heard internationally. Maybe in the near future we can see artists such as Gunz featuring with an artist from Dubai.
SN: Now that you have successfully opened the doors for other talented artists, what do we expect for Rampage 2K17?
DJ EZY D: Next year we will have Rampage 2K17, hopefully with the contacts I was able to establish. Next year we will have a much bigger Rampage than last year. It’s not about me promoting myself, it is all about promoting Seychelles and opening doors for other talented local artists who believe that they also can make it.
