A group of youth from the School of Music spread the holiday spirit in two banks in town through a delightful performance of classical Christmas songs.
The young guitarists were accompanied by guitar teacher François Victor at the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), Caravelle House and the Nouvobanq headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
The group of seven children are aged between 9 and 18 years.
Nouvobanq clerk Eyanna Delpeche who really appreciated this gesture said they should definitely do it more often as there is a lack of the festive spirit around town.
Another Nouvobanq employee Lindy Orphée said it was a good initiative on behalf of the school.
“Not only does it uplift the festive atmosphere for the clients in the bank but it also allows the children to showcase their talent and I hope to see it happen next year as well. Other venue and companies should encourage them by booking them to play,” she said.
A regular customer Christopher Hoareau said this is a very good initiative as it is something different.
“It’s not loud booming music which you normally hear from the youth, instead it’s a harmonious acoustic rhythm and it is very impressive,” he said.
The guitar youth ensemble often play in churches and might also be back for Valentine’s Day at the same venues.
Mr Victor said they received positive response from the audience and many have requested for them to perform more often.
