Every year Seychelles-India Day is planned to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Indian freedom fighter who was born on October 2, 1869.
After four successful events, preparations for the 5th Seychelles-India Day is well underway. As in previous years, the 5th Seychelles-India Day celebration is a joint collaborative effort between the high commission of India in Seychelles, the Seychelles-India Day celebration society and the Seychelles ministry responsible for culture with the support of the Indian community in Seychelles as well as other business/service organisations.
This year’s celebration, an extravaganza of cultural activities, tourism and business related events as well as presenting an entourage of Indian celebrities to Seychelles citizens, is scheduled for October 6 – 8, 2017.

Among the activities to take place this year is the Seychelles-India Day Image Awards which has already been launched and will run until October 2; Fun & Food Fair (from October 6 – 7) which is a free event; sports activities (under finalisation); chess (September 23); badminton (September 24 – 30) and mini-marathon (October 1).
Another interesting activity planned for Seychelles-India Day 2017 is the Gala Night which is a free entry event. It will take place on October 7, 2017 where a world renowned galaxy of singers, dancers, bands will be performing and enthralling the Seychelles population.
“This event was a great success in 2016 and we expect this year’s gala night celebrations to be much more entertaining. Something which should never be missed as it will provide everyone an excellent opportunity to see and listen to so many popular celebrities in Victoria for free,” a spokesperson for the organizers has said.
Among the various celebrities to grace our shores are singer Neha Bhasin – Filmfare /Zee Cine/Stardust Awardee; Sathish Krishnan (Dancer /Choreographer/Actor); Thaikkudam Bridge band which boasts 6,000,000 Facebook subscribers and MC Madonna Tixeira.
Sathish Krishnan
Born on November 18, 1982) Neha Bhasin is an Indian professional singer known for her works in Indian pop, and Bollywood. Apart from Hindi, she has recorded songs in many Indian languages including Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi and Marathi.
Neha started her career in 2002 as a member of the very successful Indian pop group Vivs.
VIVA was the first all-girls band group of India chosen by Channel [V] as part of reality show Coke [V] Popstars
Sathish Krishnan trained and grew as a lead dancer and has been an instructor of Flyerz dance company for more than a decade now, before gradually stepping up to feature as a dancer in television shows such as Dance Machi Dance and Aattam Paatam in Kalaignar TV. He was subsequently selected as a contestant paired with Jeyshree in the debut season of the show Maanada Mayilada, winning the title of Best Dancer with the assistance of Choreographer Sandy. He then went on to feature in Jodi Number One Season 4 along with Divyadarshini, finishing in second place. He was subsequently seen as the Dance choreographer in following seasons of Jodi No 1 and in Ungalil Yar Adutha Prabhu Deva.
Thaikkudam Bridge
Gautham Menon subsequently gave him an opportunity to make his debut as a film choreographer with his 2012 bilingual film, Neethane En Ponvasantham. Since then he has gone on to work in several big budget films including Vaalu, Madras and Inga Enna Solluthu. Nalanum Nandhiniyum, Sutta Kadhai ‘Yennai Arindhaal directed by Gautham Menon & Simbu – Nayantara starrer Idhu Namma Aalu.
Apart from movies Sathish has choreographed many TV Commercials including the famous 7UP Ad which has Simbu in Tamil & the Kannada star Puneet Rajkumar & Jiiva’s DIXCY Scot Ad in Tamil, to name a few. He has also choreographed album songs such as Chancey illa illa, Avalukenna composed by Anirudh which was released on Valentine’s Day.
Thaikkudam Bridge is a Kerala-based music band, founded and formed in 2013. The band first became famous through the musical show Music Mojo, which is telecast on Kappa TV and their own composition “Fish Rock”, which became popular through social networking sites and YouTube. The band does not focus on any specific genre and has composed in many different genres.
